Hi, I'm Anxiety! ✩
Oh, hi Anxiety. There you are!
Let’s talk about anxiety!
Everyone has it in one way or another! It’s a normal response to stress. But the question is..how much does it impact you? From little ones to those in later stages of life, I have seen many different types and forms of anxiety.
What if…
I get hurt?
A burglar comes into my house?
People judge me?
I make a mistake?
Most people who are anxious have trouble living in the here and now as they often spend time in the future and/or the past. I hope to help my clients with anxiety find ways to better manage these emotions.
The trick with anxiety is not to resist it, but to move with it. Oftentimes, the anxiety comes from a place of protection. The feeling itself wants to help us. It wants to protect us. But together, you and I will develop ways to use this emotion and its energy in more effective ways. We will explore its honest function and help you discover that you can be brave in light of the anxious feelings.
It’s okay to be anxious! The question is — how will you respond to it?

What if they forget to pick me up after school?
What if my parents get hurt while I’m at school?
What if it’s too much to be away from home?
Performance Anxiety: Persistent anxiety revolved around how an individual performs, whether it be on tests, during a public performance, or during a sports event/competition
What if I lose the race?
What if I do bad on my math test?
What if I mess up on stage?
Anxiety Therapy FAQs

Littles with anxiety can be more common than you think. Some children run a little more anxious than others. And that's okay! And my approach is simple - I will meet them where they are at. I will go as slow or as fast as the child needs. Using playfulness, I will help your kiddo label these feelings and explore them. We will learn how normal it is to experience anxiety and how we can better respond to our anxiety! We will also do lots of practice together too! We will rehearse how to better regulate ourselves and respond to our feelings.

Slow and steady wins the race! Like my littles, it is important for me to meet teens where they are at. Some teens are more open than others, while some may be more hesitant. By leaning on building our relationship, I will come to know their world, their strengths, and their challenges. I try to be relatable, potentially trendy, and maybe even cool to my teenagers (haha). We will have fun, engage in deep talks, and discuss ways to help them better manage their anxiety. Remember, we will work with the anxiety, not against.

Anxiety often looks like restlessness, worry, and sometimes fear. It can also look like irritability and anger. Someone that is anxious often feels scared, on edge, and even panicked. There are also common physical symptoms that are often associated with anxiety such as an increased heart rate, sweaty palms (I am prone to sweaty hands!), shaking, and shortness of breath. Lastly, other symptoms include sleep disturbance (such as difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep), fatigue, muscle tension, and even impaired concentration.
Anxiety can be difficult & overwhelming.
