Kid & Child Therapy in Orange County.
When it comes to children and kids in therapy, they need playfulness and fun in the therapeutic room.
Children & Kids in Therapy
As a therapist working with children, I believe in the power of play and playfulness. I believe in connecting to them through attunement, with or without words. My past work as an infant and toddler teacher has helped me understand the importance of letting the child lead, using their language, and giving them space when needed. I like to bring lots of energy and enthusiasm in the room. I try to stay up to date on what kids are interested in nowadays too! This means me and your child will play, we might go for a walk, we might do an activity together, we might do arts & crafts, we might play a game, etc. I am creative when it comes to what therapy looks like! And that means they will also learn and develop tools, but in a creative and engaging way.
With young children, there is also a bonus person to work with… and that’s you! The parents. I believe in a systems approach when it comes to therapy. Therefore, when it comes to working with young children, I spend time with the parents as well to help keep consistency across all the child’s environments. We can gain so much more momentum if we work together :) Oftentimes it is not only the child that needs to create change, but the system as a whole which includes the parents as well.
